With a collection of some of the best in Scottish hip-hop, DJ Scuba Steve has put together a mixtape that shines in content but fails a little on delivery.

Tracks from the likes of Eastborn, Verse One, Steg G & The Freestyle Master, Damaged Goodz and Tank this mixtape has a good mixture of styles that would be a good introduction to anyone wishing to know what Scottish hip-hop has to offer. There is one downside tho with this release and that lies with the mixing.

The levels on some of the tracks were very low making me reach for the volume control to be then blasted by the next track. The mixing between some of the tracks makes it difficult to listen to and enjoy. One that springs to mind is the overlaying of Loki's 'Damage Report' over AMcD's 'Shut The Club Down'. Both are out of sync and you can hear the volume of one track suddenly drop as Scuba tries to compensate. This is a shame as if it was not for this I would have easily have given it an extra star.

I commend DJ Scuba Steve on putting this together as compiling tracks from each of these artists is a daunting task and hope when Standup 2 comes out the technical hitches are ironed out as he will be on to a winner if he does.
