In a co-production with Sadler’s Wells Presents TAG...Me vs. The City. Directed by Jonzi D
Following 2006’s sell-out shows, Jonzi D productions is back on the road with TAG…Me vs. The City. Fusing essential elements of Hip Hop culture, TAG offers a window into the world of a brilliant but obsessive graffiti writer, exorcising his personal and creative demons in the only way he knows how.
Created and directed by Hip Hop theatre pioneer Jonzi D, TAG has a cast of six dancers exploring the physicality of graffiti lettering through collages of rap, break dancing and body-popping. The audience is invited to identify with our graffiti writer as a person and to understand his obsession as his work literally comes to life, illustrating snapshots of his earlier life.
TAG also features writing from performance poet John Berkavitch, beats and sound design by the legendary DJ Pogo (The En4cers, Block Party Breaks), an immense and impressive graffiti set courtesy of Sculptural Graffiti, dynamic on-stage video animation from Ben Wachenje (the7Samurai), lighting design by Jonathan Samuels and costumes by Shirley Williams.
