Mixed Bizness Presents The Fools Gold Tour 2009
Mixed Bizness has teamed up with ABC Events to bring the Fools Gold Tour to Glasgow. Featuring some of the very best names in contemporary electronic music, this is going to be a massive night that should not be missed. Fools Gold is the brain child of international tastemakers and DJ supremos A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs and has been behind some of the biggest and best club records to be released in the last 2 years. Having introduced the world to Kid Sister, Kid Cudi, Cool Kids, Duck Sauce and Jokers of the Scene, it has blasted it’s way into our collective consciousness and kept our dance floors rocking like never before.
Leading the charge is Fools Gold head honcho and DJ extraordinaire A-Trak. A-Trak first showed up on everyone’s radar when he became the youngest ever DMC World Champion at the age of 15 but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s a one trick scratch pony. His mesmeric turntable skills are just one of the parts that make up this international superstar DJ. In recent times A-Trak has found himself touring the globe with his record box in tow as well as on request of Kanye West. When he’s not laying down cuts and pastes for the biggest star in hip hop, he has found himself straddling the hip hop / electro divide with the greatest of ease through his storming DJ sets and zeitgeisty productions. Having provided stand out remixes for the likes of Bumblebeez, Digitalism, Kid Sister, Sebastien Tellier and Kanye West himself, Trizzy has also found time to launch his hipper-than-hip record label Fools’ Gold. Recent collaborations with Armand Van Helden and Laidback Luke have cemented his name amongst the modern greats of club music as continues his quest for global domination.
Joining Trizzy in the DJ booth are fellow Montreal natives and electro kids du jour Jokers of the Scene. The Jokers have rode the wave of high energy dance floor diversity with their undeniably unique take on today’s ubiquitous electro sound. Theirs is a sound never to be considered derivative and their signature sound has been behind some of the finest remixes to hit our boom boxes in recent months. With an ever growing back catalogue of original productions, official reworkings and under the counter bootlegs, it has been near impossible to avoid their party starting noises. Recent remixes of artists as diverse as Kid Cudi, The Count & Sinden, Mika, Thunderheist and Bonde De Role have seen their names in lights across the globe, in all the right clubs and smashing every dance floor in sight.
Last but certainly not least are new comers and pioneers of the ever present UK Funky sound GreenMoney. As the stuttered house rhythms and deep and dirty bass of the UK Funky sound continue to infiltrate our dance floors and take over our ghetto blasters, GreenMoney have exploded out of London to universal acclaim and support. Recent remixes of Yo! Majesty, Kanye West, Amp Fiddler and Terry Lynn have made high profile fans of Annie Mac, Kode 9 and of course Fools Gold Records. They are set to take the UK Funky sound to another level and this is their Scottish debut. You’d be a fool to miss it.
