Track 1: Blessed Thing
Track 2: DIY

Great Ezcape have been stirring up a lot of excitement amongst hip-hop headz, DJs and fans alike. Emcee Profisee has real star potential his positive, clear eyed lyrics are reminiscent of a young KRS1. Thought provoking rhymes and poetical wisdom mean Profisee's words sink deep.

Drum and Bass producer Vigilante brings surgically chopped beats and thundering basslines, which have already shaken numerous P.As to their foundation. With the addition of two new members to the camp (Nick PT and MC Simba) their formidable live shows which can include effects unit, keyboards, moog and guitar, bring a unique stage show.

"Great Ezcape knocked the headline act into a cocked hat" - Bram Gieben

Profisee and Vigilante offer up some of the tastiest, most intelligent hip-hop yet to be made North of the Border. The debut E.P is out now independently through Tragedy two Triumph ENT.

'It's On' has a digital gangster feel, horn stabs riding a minimal old-school beat. Profisee's lyrics come to the fore on 'Work' which has echoes of Ty's conscious flow. 'D.I.Y' featuring Simba is an up-tempo breakbeat monster, with Eastern string samples riding a monstrously heavy bassline as Profisee and Simba trade bars. 'The Way' includes soulful female backing from Ema j over a choppy, dubbed out rhythm.

"Love Great Ezcape's 'The Way'. Proper UK Hip Hop just the way it should be, unusual and interesting, but still funky enough to shake that ass to" - Robin Hexstatic

Closing track 'Blessed Thing' contains every element that makes the Ezcape so Great lyrics are reflective, but with a hard edge, the bass hums and drones like a drunken swarm of killer bees and the clattering beat hits you in the chest.

"Great Ezcape from Edinburgh gave an un-paralleled performance." - BBC 1XTRA

The quartet succeeds by bringing the weight of drum and bass/grime to their hip-hop tracks without sacrificing the head-nodding qualities of their beats, or making the sound forced or cluttered. This deadly combination is set to rise and be recognised.

PROFISEE BIO
Name: Profisee
Location: Edinburgh
Style: Hip Hop, Grime, Dancehall, Ragga, Electronic
In 2000, Profisee, already an accomplished DJ and emcee in his own right, met fellow music enthusiasts Necarus, Mr Jinx and Seanie B and promptly formed the production collective 'Yard Emcees'. Their ground breaking debut EP was released a year later amidst a storm of industry hype and subsequently went on to win the much-coveted 2003 Dazed and Confused/Topshop Re-Creation award for UK music. Their prize included a record contract with label 'One Little Indian', home to Cody ChesnuTT and Bjork, which spawned the release of their second EP 'Streetz' in 2003.

2003 also saw Profisee step up and represent Scotland, battling his way through the UK 8-Mile MC Championship to be crowned "Battle of The Clans" Winner live on MTV, which led on to live collaborations with Ice T, The Beatnuts, Jurassic 5 and The Black Eyed Peas to name but a few.
Profisee's talents as a DJ are also in demand, having notched up a list of residencies throughout the years at clubs such as Soul Biscuits, Genuwine and Yagga Yo. 2005 saw Profisee join forces with Manga / DnB supremo G*Mac to bring Mardi Grah! "A carnival of beats" The two special events of the year brought the Rottenous Blank Twang and the whole Roll Deep Entourage!

In the last year, Profisee has been devoting time to collaborative projects with local DJ 'Nasty' and 'Studio Food' with Yush2K.

Profisee's current project is Great Ezcape Decribed as anabolic Hip Hop infused by Breaks and Drum and Bass. Their renegade vibe is rooted in escaping the usual and mundane music. Having supported the likes of Skinnyman, Mark Ronson and Saul Williams, the release of the debut E.P- Escapades, has sent a buzz through the Underground, selected to represent Scotland at 1Xtra Homegrown Live Great Ezcape are planning their ezcape route. Sound the Alarm!

Championed by Ras Kwame and 1Xtra's Ace and Invisible, Profisee featured on the Homegrown track "United Kingdom" produced by Baby J. Prof laid down the opening verse which also featured artists from across the U.K.

As well as working as part of Great Ezcape, Profisee's sights are firmly set on releasing his debut L.P in 2007. Meantime look out for the Prof mixtape coming soon....

VIGILANTE BIO
I've been around music for as long as I can remember... My father, Iain McKinna, has been a musician working in studios since I was born and was a major influence from the start. Having divided my time here pretty evenly between Scotland and Canada, my musical influences are broad to say the least. I started out on the piano, then french horn (yeah, that's right!), and then went on to learn guitar before getting into production in '96. At first, I got into Edinburgh's Drum n' Bass scene under the name Vigilante. Although it's often misinterpreted, I didn't take the name for it's literal meaning, it's more of a musical concept; A vigilante is someone who not only disagrees with the laws in place, they want to impose their views on everyone else. I, on the other hand, don't always agree with the musical status quo in place and am here to impose my views on everyone else. So basically i'm just your friendly neighborhood music-vigilante...

Working with the likes of Grand Unified, The General, Morphy, and 9 tails Fox as well as experimenting some different vibes with various M.C.'s on the scene, my style started to evolve. It was around this time I met Profisee and we connected on a couple of tracks while working on our perspective projects. Having survived an 18 month contract with Reign Of Sounds 'Cryogenic Records' sister label with nothing to show for it but a white label and the clothes on my back, I was definitely ready for something else.

At this time I met a singer, Pippa Burnett, with a fresh style and ready-to-go attitude. We released a track originally written by The Doors called "The Spy" with our own Drum n' Bass slant on it under the name 'Vendetta' as the first release on Grand Unified's 'Loss Leaders' imprint. Grand Unified co-produced the track with me, we got distribution from S.T. Holdings and I was having fun again...

Enter the Great Ezcape... Profisee and I got together and made a track called "Blessed Thing" , checked it, and figured we better make some more. When we then followed it up with 'Resistance" we knew we were onto something fresh. Once we had enough tracks to take it to the (next) stage, we recruited Nik P.T. (The Manufacturer) to assist with expanding the live set beyond just being a live P.A. set and M.C. Simba's been on board as well, we've had all the ingredients and been cooking ever since. I'm also working on a future project with M.C. Necaras as well as getting into some remix work to further expand my palette most notably Trickady's "Hardest Out There" featuring Necaras himself. I've also done a couple of Great Ezcape remixes, giving "Blessed Thing" a fresh treatment and going back to my basics with a Drum n' Bass mix of "Resistance". Now i'm just looking forward to more of the same (lots more!!) developing the live set further, playing further afield, and making more music that keeps moving forward.
