The 13th Note hosted the launch of Damaged Goodz last album 'Blissphemy' and it was a great night albeit a bit hot and sticky.
Walking in the door we were treated to the sounds of Dj Zeeny as he helped to warm up the crowd that was trickling in. This wasn't a packed night but considering that is was a Sunday and only a day or two after Scotland beating France it was a decent crowd.
Blakhart, consisting of rappers Tank, Dirty Bowler & Fat Bastard, came to the floor first and impressed me throughout their set. I have not had the pleasure of seeing these guys before and I will definitely be looking out for future gigs.
Major Threat followed and continued the high standards set by Blakhart with a stormer of a set from the Kriminal Recordz stalwarts.
But the night belonged to Damaged Goodz and he whipped the crowd into a frenzy as he kicked off with 'Angel Arrival' and title track 'Blissphemy'. BeeJay stomped around the stage spitting his lyrics over this excellent track with help from 'Blissphemy' producer and Kriminal Recordz owner Big Div.
Throughout his set BeeJay produced the 'Goodz' on every track and did not disappoint. 'Ashes Scatter' is for me one of the stronger tracks on the album and it was good to see this live. 'Hawners' was another excellent track live and really got the crowd involved by shouting 'Hawners' at various points throughout. Our devil signs were in the air for 'Skullcrush', his System of a Down influenced track, and was surprisingly entertaining.
Its hard to think this is one of his last live performances as he looks onto retiring from Scottish Hip-Hop and I for one will say Damaged Goodz will be sorely missed.
