After a two year hiatus Basement Breaks is back and it's been sorley missed. Back in the hot and sticky 13th note we were treated to a range of top acts that kept the heads nodding from start to finish.
DJ Kieran set the mood spinning tunes before Glasgow's own Loki and Gasp took to the floor. Loki performed his usual excellent set with a couple of new tracks thrown in but it was 'Me and my backpack' which made the crowd go crazy as soon as the beat started. Loki knows how to work a crowd and he had some people in awe of his lyrical skill.
White Noise was next up with his new vinylist DJ Blair. This was the first time both have played live together and they did themselves proud with only a couple of mixing/scratching hic-ups during their set. I was really impressed with these guys and look forward to seeing more of them and their album due out this summer.
The always excellent Bigg Taj with Bluhnt amazed the crowd next with a mixture of beatboxing and fast rhyming. Both of these guys never fail to impress and their set immersed the crowd as if to be part of the performance as Bluhnt made his way into the appreciative audience while spitting his lyrics. At one point a lone figure walked on stage from the middle of the crowd and to the delight of everyone present, Respek BA took to the mic for a short period heightening the already amazing atmosphere.
RC Jnr, Foulmouth and Dinger who comprise 4-Most were last up wrapping up the night nicely playing tracks from the new album 'Just hear... to let you know'. With tracks including 'Blood, Sweet & Beers' & their version of Incubus' 'What tomorrow brings' the crowd were definitely up for a good night with the latter track's chorus being sung by a female member of the audience.
Basement Breaks, don't ever leave us again!
